The Newman Center is the Catholic Center at Queens College, located on the second floor of the Student Union Building alongside other religious spaces on campus.The center is staffed by the Campus Ministry Department of the Diocese of Brooklyn and serves as a place for prayer, fellowship, and community life.The Center includes two offices, a chapel, a kitchen area, and a lounge where daily Mass, faith formation programs, and community events are held.The Newman Center is also home to the Newman Club, the student-led Catholic organization at Queens College, which hosts many of its meetings and activities in the space.
The Newman Center primarily serves the Queens College community. Our programs and activities are designed to meet the needs and interests of students and are guided by the priorities and feedback of the Newman Club. Visitors from outside the Queens College community are welcome to attend daily Mass and participate in many of our programs and events as guests. All visitors are expected to follow Queens College's visitor policies and campus regulations.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel is the heart of the Newman Center and our most sacred space. The Eucharist is reserved in the tabernacle, making the chapel a place where Catholics encounter the Real Presence of Jesus Christ.Whether you come to pray, reflect, read Scripture, or spend quiet time with the Lord, the chapel is open to all who seek a place of peace and prayer.
The Diocese of Brooklyn is the local ecclesiastical district that is responsible for serving the 1.3 million Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens.The diocese is led by the Bishop of Brooklyn, who oversees the parishes, schools, and other Catholic ministries throughout the two boroughs.
